In 2004 a few musicians who had been hit by the situation faced by the children orphaned by the conflict seen in Nepal decided to do something to help. Disillusioned by the way donated charity money didn't necessarily mean it was going directly to the cause, decided to form Nepal Balbalika trust {NBT}. The goal, to build an eco self-sufficient shelter for these children, using music as a tool to fundraise and break down the barriers of religion and creed.
2 world records have been broken- 1: the worlds highest concert at Kalapattar 5545m in the Everest region in October 05 & 2: the worlds longest performance, 44 hours non stop at The Soho Lounge in the West End in London, underwear runs, Hats for Homes in schools and traditional means of fundraising have been used to raise enough money to start building in October outside Kathmandu, Nepal.
Music4children.org hope to help as many children first hand as possible not only in Nepal but also worldwide. The next venture will help fund putting systems in place for self-sustainability at the shelter in Nepal.
We are actively helping other charities as well as our own, helping local children as well as those in the 3rd world and promote an eco friendly message.
Music4children is volunteered based and relay’s purely on the good will of those who have a love for music and helping the next generation reach their potential who wouldn't usually have the opportunity. If you would like to donate, time or money, we would love to hear from you.
